Continuing Education can be found at conferences hosted by TLA, ALA, AASL, PLA, ACRL, SLA, and Amigos.

Webjunction Texas - offered by TSLAC:  free, self-paced courses selected from multiple providers, and webinars created by WebJunction tsaff just for libraries

WebJunction - Webjunction is a leader in online CE opportunities and offers a vast amount of information for the library profession.  There is also an abundance of reports and colleagues' expertise shared on the site.

Texas State Library's CE and Consulting Home Page - As of SFY2012, TSLAC is the state-wide coordinator for CE opportunities funded by the Texas State Library.  Face-to-face, online, and webinars are offered.  These workshops and webinars are often free.  Watch TSLAC's Library Developments blog for frequent announcements about free online training opportunities from various providers.

NCompass Live - The Nebraska Library Commission presents online training and conferences for librarians.

TechSoup - TechSoup offers online training  events related to technology for libraries and other nonprofits.

Carterette Series Webinars from Georgia Library Association - online training highlighting trends, innovation, and best practices in libraries.

CTLS training information

TLA Continuing Education Corner - TLA offers free webinars and low-cost premium webinars which are often tied to articles in the Texas Library Journal.  In addition, there are many CE offerings at TLA's annual conference.

American Library Association (ALA) - In addition to the ALA annual and midwinter conferences, there are conferences and events hosted by individual divisions: 

  • AASL offers Learning for Life (L4L) webinars. 
  • PLA has a biennial conference, and elearning@PLA offers webinars, virtual CE and online workbooks for self-paced learning.  The Certified Public Library Administrator's program (CPLA) is also provided through PLA. 
  • United for Libraries  (formerly ALTAFF) has a Trustee Academy that includes various webinars focused on topics relevant to library trustees. 
  • ACRL offers Conferences and OnPoint Chats which include online topic discussions for professional development

Special Libraries Association (SLA) - Members of SLA may attend webinars free of charge.  In addition, they have CLICK U, an online learning community.

Amigos Library Services Continuing Education - Amigos offers a variety of CE opportunities for all levels of library staff, including face to face and online training.

Infopeople - Infopeople is a state of California LSTA grant program.  Online courses are available for a fee, and webinars and podcasts are free.

Online Programming for All Libraries - OPAL - an international collaborative effort to provide web-based programs for library users and library staff.   These are live online events where participants can interact via VOIP, chat, synchronized browsing, and more.

Alternative Basic Library Education (ABLE) and Supplemental Alternative Basic Library Education (SABLE) - A free online group of courses for library staff that do not have a formal education in library science.  CE credit is available.
