As announced previously, NTLP is in the process of closing down the office in Fort Worth and arranging for the termination or transfer of all responsibilities related to ongoing projects. As of today (April 30, 2013) NTLP will focus only on previously made commitments and completing paperwork and tasks related to closure. The office itself will be closed as of May 31, 2013.
The Texas State Library (TSLAC) has provided supplemental funding assistance through the end of May to help NTLP staff close out projects previously funded by the state. Staff will provide transition assistance for ongoing consortium projects, dispose of supplies and equipment originally purchased with state funds, and follow through on reporting and documentation requirements related to previous NTRLS activity and the current year's competitive grants.
Most of our office supplies and small equipment were given away to libraries during April.  The large equipment and furniture will be made available to libraries via a drawing in early May.  Details on how to participate in the drawing will be sent to the directors of NTLP Partner Libraries.
The laptop computers from our training lab have been given away to libraries selected by a random drawing.  The computers were delivered to the receiving libraries at the end of the TLA Annual Conference in Fort Worth, where they had been in use for the conference's Hands-On Lab training sessions.
Other information:

  • Training events and staff speaking engagements that were previously scheduled for May will continue to take place, and all training fees have been waived.
  • The circulating collection of ereaders and tablet computers will continue to be available for borrowing NTLP partner libraries through the end of the fiscal year.
  • The NTLP website will continue to be available at least through the end of the fiscal year.
  • Vendor discounts from NTLP Commercial Partners are still available to NTLP Partner Libraries through the end of the fiscal year.

See the April 12 update for the transition plans for other projects.  The NTLP staff and Board of Directors will continue to fulfill the organization's commitments as outlined in that document.  Watch the NTLP website for our post-closure contact information and further updates.

With the closure of NTLP, we encourage NTLP partner libraries to use the support resources available from TSLAC, CTLS, Amigos, and other library support organizations.  See the NTLP Blog and the library support resources page at the NTLP website for more information.

Thanks for all your support throughout the history of NTLP and NTRLS, and for the kind words and sympathy we have been receiving in the past month.
